Take the 2017 Executive Survey Now!   The 7 River Alliance invites you to participate in the 3rd Annual Online Executive Business Survey to gauge business satisfaction in the region.  In the last two years, the survey has garnered more than 150 responses annually.  For 2017, the goal is to secure at least 200 responses from businesses in SW Wisconsin, SE Minnesota and NE Iowa. This year, questions were added to the survey that will provide additional information about business challenges with workforce development. These questions will help us work towards identifying the emerging themes of challenges the region faces in talent preparation, recruitment, and retention.  The data collected will contribute to the WISE plan. Building a Business Community Lisa Herr leads the 7 Rivers Alliance in building a local workforce.   When local businesses succeed, the communities and people around them thrive. But when businesses can’t get employees, the effects can be devastating. And it’s not just a matter of training more locals to do the work, says Lisa Herr, CEO of the 7 Rivers Alliance in La Crosse. Our area has more people leaving to work elsewhere than coming in. Nationally renowned economic consultants hired to help with 7 Rivers WISE plan   Ken Poole is looking forward to getting to know the 7 Rivers Region better.   The CEO of the Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness of Arlington, Va., will work with local businesses and public officials as part of a $110,000 contract his organization has signed with the 7 Rivers Alliance. The three-state, 14-county business development organization headquartered in La Crosse has embarked on a process to develop a 10-year workforce development plan for the region and will use the expertise at CREC in that work.   To Read the rest of the article, click on the button below!       


Grant Opportunity!

Veteran Entrepreneurs Grant Program   The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) announced today that grant applications are now being accepted from registered 501(c)(3)  or 501(c)(6) non-profit organizations that provide entrepreneurship training, or technical, business or other assistance to veteran entrepreneurs to improve employment outcomes.  Non-profit organizations interested in applying for this grant opportunity must submit their completed applications by February 10, 2017. “The veterans community is best served when all veterans organizations work together to provide the best possible services to veterans and their families,” Kathy Marschman, interim secretary for the WDVA said. “Growing veteran employment and creating more veteran-owned businesses is not only good for the veteran, but it is good for our state. 2016 Executive Business Survey Results

Results are in! Thank you to all that participated in the 2016 Executive Survey.    This report summarizes the results of the 2016 Executive Business Survey conducted between April 4th and August 1st 2016. The responses of 152 participants were digitally recorded via an online survey.
