Our 48 metal manufacturing companies perform better than others around the nation with higher than average employment numbers because they produce very specialized, high-value items typically sold internationally. The advanced manufacturing industry cluster is fueled by the consistent output of goods produced by highly skilled workers. Our partners provide our region and beyond access to metals, machinery, electrical equipment, appliances, and other on-demand products.
Forward-thinking manufacturers in the Upper Mississippi River Valley have aligned themselves with the innovation and advantages of composite materials to create high-quality products. As an internationally known source of progressive composite production, our region continues to contribute new advancements toward the development of the industry. Within the health care industry cluster, our partners vary from award-winning medical centers to exceptional hospitals to knowledgeable, progressive wellness institutions. With two large medical centers, the health care cluster is one of region’s strengths. This cluster receives ample support within our local communities, including established research partnerships between our health care and higher education institutions. The region continues to serve as an incubator for innovative wellness developments and solutions.

The region is a leader in inventor and entrepreneur clubs and a national resource for how to start them. The inventors and entrepreneurs of our region have pioneered uncharted business waters to explore new opportunities and serve unmet needs in our communities and beyond. The contributions of this industry cluster to our local, regional and national economies are invaluable, but many times go unmeasured. The 7 Rivers Alliance understands the need to develop the surrounding area to grow. The ECO DEVO group was started in 2011 to bring together economic development leaders in the regional to discuss topics that play an important role in the region. This group also works with local businesses to create a Business, Outreach, Retention and Engagment survey every year. A statistical analysis is provided to each participating business to help them improve in areas of need.
