The 2015 Site Selection Summit was a great event with over 50 people attending. Economic development professionals met with site selection consultants at Cedar Creek Golf Club in Onalaska, WI and learned about creative incentive packages for locating new business and expanding business in the region. Economic development professionals also had the opportunity to learn best site promotion practices. View presenter’s slide show below.

 

Presenter Bios

 

Phil Schneider has 28 years of management consulting experience in the fields of corporate global location strategy, site selection, incentives negotiation, and economic development strategy.  Phil spent seven years with Fantus Consulting, followed by 18 years with Deloitte Consulting’s Strategy & Operations practice. He is currently the President of Schneider Consulting LLC, where he continues to provide strategic advisory services.  Mr. Schneider is the incoming President of the Site Selectors Guild, the association of the world’s leading site selection practitioners.

Janet Ady’s passion is business-to-business marketing and economic development. As president of Ady Advantage, she has led marketing initiatives for a wide range of organizations. Ultimately, her work helps to strengthen existing businesses, enhance the quality of life, attract new and expanding businesses, and retain and attract talent. Janet’s background is in marketing research and strategy development. In that capacity, she has conducted over 2,500 in-depth qualitative interviews with business and technical decision-makers across a broad swath of businesses.

 

Wade Goodsell works on the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation’s business attraction team overseeing the state’s outreach efforts to site selectors and the commercial real estate community, while also managing WEDC’s statewide Certified Sites program. Wade is a proud Green Bay Packers shareholder, residing in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin with his wife and son.

Beth Balzer is the Project Management Team Leader in the Business Development Division of the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA).  She joined the agency in 1993 as an Existing Industry Marketing Manager.  In addition to focusing on the expansion and retention of Iowa’s existing companies, she has responsibilities of overseeing the business recruitment efforts of the Project Management team.  Prior to joining the IEDA, Balzer was employed by Ortho Diagnostics, a division of Johnson & Johnson, as a Sales Representative.  Previous to Ortho Diagnostics, she held sales and sales management positions for Hershey Chocolate, USA. Balzer received a BBA degree, with an emphasis in marketing, from Iowa State University.

Kevin Kelleher is the SE Mn Regional Business Representative and Director of the MN Shovel Ready Program. Kevin has been with the MN Department of Employment and Economic Development for 8 years as SE MN Business Rep. and has recently taken over the management of DEED’s Shovel Ready Program. Kevin also focuses on Business Logistics for DEED as part of his business acumen. Kevin was the 2007-2008 Chair of the MN Recovers Task Force dealing with the floods of 2007 & 2008 not only dealing with business recovery but all aspects of community disaster recovery. Kevin served 16 years as Houston County Commissioner and currently serves on the Houston Public School Board and the Hiawatha Valley Education District Board of Directors.

Steve Jahn is the Executive Director of Momentum West, one of nine Wisconsin regional economic development organizations that collectively blanket the state of Wisconsin.  Momentum West services a uniquely diverse ten county area in West Central Wisconsin, including the counties adjacent to the Twin Cities and the Chippewa Valley.  These include Barron, Chippewa, Clark, Dunn, Eau Claire, Pierce, Polk, Pepin, Rusk and St. Croix. Steve has been involved on numerous civic and non-profit organizations including the Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce, the United Way, Rotary International, and others.  He has been married to his wife Rhonda, an Eau Claire WI native, for 27 years and they have one daughter, Kelsey, a student at the University of Wisconsin Stout.
